Alice’s expertise lies within microalgae biotechnology and to Aliga she brings biology expertise around strain selections, culture inoculations and media formulations as well as technical know-how on production and yield optimizations. As head of Aliga’s laboratory, Alice is responsible for the company’s research and lab activities where she is designing, planning and executing strain and product developments that is being used in the company’s bio-manufacturing processes.
Alice started her scientific career with a Bachelor Degree in Plant Biotechnology with focus on microalgae and yeast at Leibniz University Hannover, Germany. She undertook her Master studies in biotechnology/molecular biotechnology at Rheinisch Westfälische Technische Hochschule in Aachen and thereafter transferred to a research group at the University of Cologne to undertake her PhD within extracellular polysaccharide production of microalgae. Prior to joining Aliga’s team, Alice developed and finalised a pilot-scale system for waste water treatment with microalgae in Southern Spain.
